Linares Chamber of Commerce

Founded in 1910, the Linares Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a Public Corporation, a consultative and collaborative body liaising with the Spanish local, regional and national Administration, which represents, promotes and defends the general interests of companies in the region.

All legal or physical entities, either national or foreign, performing mercantile, commercial, industrial or service-related activities in the Linares region belong to the Chamber.

This institution provides a broad range of services to improve the resources of companies in their different fields. The services offered by the Chamber are mostly free and allow businesspeople, among other things, to have better consultancy at their disposal and a better environment where they can develop their activities.

Two main objectives among its aims:

  • Promotion and development of local economy, acting as a motor of change, analysing the trends and helping to adapt the local and regional companies to and always alive and changing market. To do it the Chamber uses its exiting tools and creates when necessary the right infrastructures.
  • To foster greater collaboration between education, training and business.

We are an important part of the process of entrepreneurial development in Linares. Therefore during the last 7 years and in order to better fulfil its objectives, we have created the following structures and have run/are running the following projects.

BUSSINESS INCUBATOR FOR THE SERVICE SECTOR. Many entrepreneurs are faced with the challenges of sustaining and maintaining their Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs), due to a lack of capital, technical and management assistance and/or business training. In light of these challenges, The Chamber established a business incubator to enable small start-up businesses to get an office space and the required support in their early stages to minimize the risk of failure. The SME Incubator also supports SMEs with their business growth needs. The Incubator provides certain common services to the occupants, like access to venture fund, marketing, infrastructure, accounting, secretarial, security, and general support services.

TECHNOLOGY-BASED ENTERPRISE INCUBATOR. A specific business incubator for technology-based start-up businesses. We offer office space, synergies, and the required support in their early stages to minimize the risk of failure. The Incubator provides certain common services to the occupants, like access to venture fund, marketing, infrastructure, secretarial, security, and general support services.

BUSSINESS INCUBATOR FOR THE INDUSTRY SECTOR. A business incubator to enable start-up industrial businesses to get a plant space and the required support in their early stages. The industrial Incubator also supports starting industries with their business growth needs. The Incubator provides certain common services to the occupants, like access to venture fund, marketing, infrastructure, accounting, secretarial, security, and legal support services.

COMPETITIVINESS, INNOVATION AND DIVERSIFICATION CENTER. Strategically located at the Linares University Campus. The Innovation Centre offers support for your business development projects, as well as new forms of innovation and internationalization. It also supports the introduction of new industrial lines, with a firm commitment to 3D-printing industry, prototyping, biomaterials, new materials, industrial cultivation and circular economy.

Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR)

CNR participates in Digital TeacherPreneur Project through the Istituto per le Tecnologie Didattiche (ITD).

The ITD is a research Institute of the National Research Council (CNR) of Italy, founded in 1970. It has two branches in Genova and Palermo. The ITD is the only Italian institute exclusively devoted to research in the field of educational technology.

The institute carries out strongly interdisciplinary basic and applied research studies. In fact, its researchers integrate contributions and models developed in various disciplines, such as computer science in its broader sense, cognitive science, pedagogy, school curricula subjects’.

Educational technology research studies at the ITD focus on specific learning contexts such as: the school system, university, in-service training. The ITD’s main research issues are concerned with: improving math and science education, promoting inclusion of disabled and disadvantaged people, improving lifelong learning processes through virtual communities, using digital games to foster reasoning skills and strategic thinking, entrepreneurship education, etc.

Research activities can be classified under at least four main frames of reference:

  • The pedagogical perspective deals with teaching/learning process issues, e.g. science teaching, and aims to design technology-mediated environments in response to such issues;
  • The computational perspective explores the potential of technology and how it modifies its relationship with knowledge as to “”what”” (possible topics to be studied and “”how”” (new ways of representing scientific concepts through visualization, manipulation and interaction opportunities made available by technology);
  • The cognitive perspective studies cognitive abilities that the use of computer-mediated environments either promotes or inhibits;
  • The social and cultural perspective analyzes how learning changes in different contexts, such as institutions, corporations, informal learning environments, communities of practice, etc. and how technology can change organizational styles, curricula and methodologies.

The international context, in particular the European one, is strategically crucial for the educational technology sector. Since the early EC programmes, the ITD has participated in many projects and has collaborated with major European centres, often as the project leader.
